I have had a lot of questions about deadlifts and the starting position. Hips high? Hips low?
I don't teach just one, I teach both positions and this has caused some confusion amongst beginner lifters sharing technique ideas. The cues I teach to a sound deadlift are all the same no matter the body type, but the body type (short arms, short legs, long torso or Short arms, long legs, short torso etc...) will decide where the hips are positioned to maintain safe positioning and power generation.
Remember one important thing, that the deadlift is NOT A SQUAT. They have different functions and benefits.
Check out this video, great explanation of this rational...
Next video will be of the actual set up.
